本期我們要學習一些專注力相關的詞匯，可用到本季度P1口語 concentration話題中。

1. distract /d?'str?kt/
v. 分散(注意力);使分心；
常見搭配：distract sb. (’s attention/ mind) from
e.g. The noise in the street distracted me from my reading.
e.g. Smartphones distract attention and reduce learning because of their potential to offer activities more inviting than studying.
補充：inviting adj. 誘人的

n. distraction 干擾；使人分心的事物
e.g. I can turn off the TV if you find it a distraction.
e.g. There are too many distractions here to work properly.

習語補充：drive someone to distraction 使某人心煩意亂
e.g. Their endless chatter drove her to distraction.

n. 消遣；娛樂
He found reading to be a good distraction.(a pastime)

2. wander /'w?nd?/
v. 走神;開小差；
常見搭配：mind/ thoughts/ attention wander(s) 走神
e.g. His mind would wander, and he would lose track of what he was doing.
e.g. The speech was boring and my mind began to wander.

v. 閑逛;漫步
e.g. When he got bored he wandered around the fair.
e.g. Visitors are free to wander through the gardens and woods.

3. zone /?zo?n/
搭配：zone out: （由于過度勞累或厭倦等原因）注意力不集中
e.g. He tends to zone out when I talk to him about my job.

zone 作為名詞本意為區域，zone out 為走神，反過來 in the zone 或者get in the zone 則表示投入做某件事。
e.g. Once you just kind of just get in the zone on your own, you become comfortable, and it becomes something natural, as opposed to something that you’re nervous about.
注：as opposed to 而不是

4. attentive /?'tent?v/
adj. 注意的；留意的;專心的
搭配：be attentive to 關注…
e.g. Attentive readers might notice some mistakes in the book.
e.g. He's very attentive to details.

adv. attentively.
e.g. She listened attentively while I poured out my problems.
注：pour out 傾吐，傾訴思想；感情或經歷；

adj. 周到的
e.g. 周到的；體貼的
e.g. She was very attentive to her guests.
e.g. The nurse was attentive to his patient, constantly checking to be sure she was comfortable.
