Some people argue that the government should not pay money for international aid when there are some disadvantaged people at home (homeless or unemployed). To what extent do you agree or disagree?
這道題目
考生在第二段正文開頭是這樣寫的
On the other hand, international aid, learnt from its name, is an institution facing towards countries instead of individuals. What it can provide to its member states turns out to be more than just funds.
☆ 本期，我們來學習怎樣流暢地寫出段落之間的承上啟下之感。
教師修改后如下
As a matter of fact, it is narrow to look at international aid from a monetary point of view alone, as more benefits are hidden beneath the funds, letting organisations be not only donators but beneficiaries as well.
☆ 其一，學生的第一句問題在于instead of individuals，這里的表達有種國際援助不面向個人，那么這個“面相”的定依舊很重要，但是學生并沒有詳細說明;
☆ 其二，這里individual的引出其實是想講國際援助從個人升華到國家的利益至上，所以face ... instead of individuals就不準確了，不如直接去點明國家不僅是捐贈者也是受益者。
☆ 其三，從討論的主體上來看，將主體從organisation變為international aid并不合適，因為題目的主題重點在國家參與international aid的程度之上，因而為了文章的流暢度和內容的關聯度，從國家的角度出發進行討論更好 -- 當what it can provide 重的it為international aid時，討論主體的轉換在內容和形式上都不討巧。
