Taxes are an essential part of any society as they provide the government with the necessary resources to fund public services and infrastructure. However, some people argue that paying taxes is enough of a contribution to society, while I entertain the view that individuals have a responsibility to do more than just pay their taxes.

難題。社會類話題，比較抽象，有點類似去年平安夜考的“理想社會”。審題時需注意，本題不討論利弊，只討論“只要交稅是不是就夠了”：分別討論「enough的原因」以及「more responsibilities」的原因。

On the one hand, those who believe that paying taxes is enough of a contribution to society argue that taxes are a compulsory contribution that everyone must make. They also contend that taxes are, for the sake of the well-being of society, used to fund public services, such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, that benefit everyone in society. With citizens imposed taxes, the government can to a large extent have the financial basis to ensure the basic survival of its taxpayers and guarantee the social soundness, as long as it distributes the resources reasonably. Therefore, paying taxes is a significant enough contribution to society, and individuals should not be expected to do more than that. However, the truth is that only paying taxes is far from being adequate enough.

As a matter of fact, people ought to have more responsibilities as members of society than just paying taxes, as citizens have a duty to actively participate in society and make a positive difference. Individuals can contribute to society in many ways, such as volunteering, donating to charity, and advocating for social justice. These actions are crucial for building strong communities and addressing social problems, such as poverty, homelessness, and inequality, that cannot be resolved by governmental action alone. In other words, strong and effective though governmental action is, the administration can hardly cope with moral issues. Therefore, everyone should strive to do their part, as once a more vibrant, healthy, and equitable society is created, everyone will be the beneficiary.
