SPEAKING

Task 1

A company has invited you to attend an interview. But their office is in somewhere very far away or in a different town; due to this remoteness, they also offered an interview on the phone, which do you prefer?

Give spe cific reasons to support your opinion.

Task 2

Reading: student letter

學校新開了植物園，得到了社會的大量資金支持，里面有許多稀有或外來品種的花。學生建議雇用植物學專業的學生到植物園做導游。

好處1:游客可以通過學生專業的介紹更好地了解珍稀物種，從而更好地游覽;

好處2:對于學生自己來說，能夠practice and reinforce專業知識。

Listening: ;

男生態度disagree

理由1:學生在學校里學的都是各種advanced knowledge，但是 guided tour中所需的知識非常basic;更像是不斷去repeat the same script again and again.

理由2:游客只是想takeawalk，隨便看看prettyflowers,旁邊有人在說話的話反而不能enjoy。就算游客想了解，they can just read the information provided there.

Task 3

Reading:

Maladaptive diffus ion

Maladaptive diffusion means that something grows well in the place where it originates and spreads widely, but in a new environment it will meet different factors so that it is possible not to suit the new surroundings.

Listening:

教授舉了一個南美的建筑作為例子。

在warm and dry的南美，人們會建一種long flat building, with roof extending far beyond the wall to shelter people from the hotsun.這種建筑在全美流行起來。在更北的地方，人們也建造了大量這種房子，但是并不適合，尤其是在更寒冷的，snowy 的地方。雪會堆積在屋項上,由于roof比較steep,雪會滑落:雪化了以后，還會造成water problem。

Task4

教授講了很多生物面臨的來自predators 和environment的威脅，面對這些威脅，它們一方面會grow mature earlier.這樣可以讓他們更加ready to face harsh surrounding;他們更快地mature，就意味著更加strong,小的時候太vulnerable.比如一-種鳥就進化出了這種策略來更好地survive.

另一方面生物還會reproduce earlier. 通過更快地繁殖，哪怕life span shorter,生物都能夠更快replenish their population,從而保證整個種群的延續。例子是一種魚。
