Do you agree or disagree with the fllowing statement?
It is better to take risks and explore new things when you are older rather than when you are younger.
The statement which assefthat it is better to take risks and explore new things at an older age rather than when you are younger has iriggered discussion. While conventional wisdom may support this idea, I hold a negative view about it.
assert v.
Surely, young people don't have enough time and money to support themselves to take risks and explore nove things. For example, they need to work hard to earn money so that they can support their own lives such as paying for the rent, spending loads of money on grocery, covering the loan from buying a house if possible. Also, young people have to work almost seven to eleven, so they don't have extra time to explore new things. Therefore, they lack time to take risks. However, for older people, most of them just retred from their jobs. Probably they have done the job for 30 years or even more, therefore, it is more likely for them to blow their great savings on risky events. Since they don't have to work, they also have a lot of free time.Ive seen a lot of old people spending their vacation on a coastal city,or leaning how to use computer in a community center. Therefore, young people don't seem to have extra time and money to deal with new things.
在寫 supporting details 的過程中,從 money 和 time 2個方面分別對 young 和 old 進(jìn)行對比陳述。
novel adj.
groceryn.雜物
retrev.退休
blow v.
However, young people do own advantages over old people in terms of physical and mental conditions. For example, some young people would choose to do extreme sports such as going bungee, parasailing and so forth. Their good physical condition allows them to do such activities. However, some old people may already have bad health conditions such as heart diseases, high blood pressure and a weak immune system, which can't support them to do intense sports or some related risky things. For another, young people can stay calm when facing difficulties while old people probably will be anxious. For example, what if an old man lost his passport when traveling abroad, he might get panic and stay stil, doing nothing but waiting for his family, friends or even a working stuff from agencyto help him. However, if this happens to a young person, most likely, he would try to solve the problems by himself, for example, going to the police station to check the closed circuit television monitor to see if he can find it or checking all the information he needs to apply for a new certificate from the embassy. Therefore, young people seem to have better physical and mental conditions to deal with emergencies than older people do,which enables them to explore new things.
in terms of 就….…
parasailing n.
agency n.中介.代理
embassy n. 大使館
Moreover, young people are more wiing to try new things. By this I mean, they have a tendency to try new things. For example, my brother,a 19-year-old boy,was preparing to travel to America last year. He put effort into learning a new language, reading, listening, and speaking by watching videos online, reading classic novels and so on. However, when his grandparents also went for a trip, they refused to lear any new words or sentences because they didn't want to. They chose to keep their current state and just hired an interpreter to help with their language, Therefore, young people are more willing to, in other words, delberately choose to, try new things.
be illig to do 愿意做某事
deliberately adv.故意地
current adj.目前的
In sum, even though some people believe it is better to take risks when you are older, I contend that it is better to do such things when you are younger.
